Description in English: In this book, we reconstruct the emergence and transformation of several beaches in what is now called the Colombian Caribbean, as tourist beaches, between 1950 and 1990. Through an analysis of newspaper and audiovisual archives and narrations by Amira de la Rosa, Jaime Manrique, Fanny Buitrago, Tomás González, among others, we unravel the beach chronotope. Our focus includes Prado Mar and Puerto Colombia in Barranquilla; Tolú and Coveñas in Sucre; El Rodadero in Santa Marta; and Spratt Bay and Sound Bay on the island of San Andrés. The chapters that make up this book are woven around two interconnected lines. First, the history of each beach is explored through the fictional lens, primarily. And, second, the ways in which each writer or artist imagined, foresaw and glossed that particular story and, in this way, inserted themselves INSERT INTO a debate about the local presence and the presence of the tourist, the polarization between center and "coast", the transformation of the landscape and its use. This book offers a unique perspective on tourist beaches, drawing from the imaginative and critical viewpoints of Colombian writers and artists.
