Description in English: Learning about the stories, daily life, and ways of being of the peasant and fishing villages of Magdalena Grande (Cesar, Magdalena, and La Guajira) is a challenge that had to be undertaken through a method that would allow people to express the meaning of the things they do and reasons they do it. Only possible thanks to dialogue and knowledge exchange based on knowing how to listen. This methodological instrument generated horizontality in constructing knowledge about the meaning of "being a peasant" in a region as diverse as the Colombian Caribbean. The research addressed the reality of the peasant communities of Magdalena Grande based on their ways of relating to the territory, not only in productive terms but also from the values and meanings they had built on it. The work of the ethnographers was not limited to describing economic practices concerning land and water but extended to learning how these two aspects have configured identities, corporalities, and intrinsic knowledge that expressed the history and concrete reality of peoples who have struggled for the conservation of their traditions and memories as structuring elements of their way of life.
