Description in English: Citizenship is a reality that needs time, place and context to be defined. In this work, we approach it in the school, from the initial teacher training, at a time of social reconstruction of the Colombian context. Citizenship education for teachers points to the very mission of the school as a trainer of appreciative, critical, and proactive citizens. From a methodological approach that recognizes the dialogue of knowledge between actors and authors, experience and novelty, challenges and possibilities, realities and aspirations around citizenship, pedagogy is discovered as an articulating axis that, particularly in teacher training schools, is conceived as a vocation, reflection and practice, and, therefore, as a vital experience that forms in, to and for life the teacher as a subject of knowledge and practice. In tune with reality and from the deep aspirations of teachers in training, it is discovered that citizenship today is called to be: active, intercultural, inclusive, cosmopolitan, ecological, and digital. The task requires vital involvement because the best teacher of citizenship is the good citizen.
