Description in English: This book presents some selected quantitative tools that contribute to engineering education. It starts with concepts of univariate statistics from random variables, probability distribution models, and time series. These statistics will be useful in two ways: first, as tools that can be directly applied in real cases; second, as preparation for understanding the more advanced models shown in the book. The latter corresponds to multivariate analysis methods such as comparison of two or more groups in terms of multivariate vector; principal component analysis, correspondence, canonical correlation, profile and multivariate regression. In addition, multivariate normal mixtures applied to time series are presented. It should be noted that the last-mentioned topics are of greater applicability than the basic statistics of the first chapters. The book ends with efficiency models known as data envelopment analysis. Although the text deals with advanced topics in comparison with undergraduate statistics, these are developed in an understandable and didactic way, since the reader is offered codes solved in R software, explanations with appropriate figures, solved examples, and interpretations of results in practical contexts.
