Description in English: This work is designed to lead the reader INSERT INTO contemporary archaeological studies. Given the large volume of existing information on the scope of the discipline today, it tries to summarize the central trends associated with the constant paradigmatic changes that occurred in archaeology more intensely after the Second World War. Additionally, it describes the state of the art of archaeological research in northern Colombia, where the traditional geographical delimitations of the area are reviewed and updated. Similarly, this work reflects on the multiple options available to contemporary archaeological work, over which the author takes sides without trying to impose his approach within a changing and intense political and epistemological field. It includes three complementary readings written by three archaeologists of recognized trajectory in Colombia, Diana Carvajal, Sneider Rojas, and Francisco Aceituno, which expand and detail descriptions made throughout the work. Because of its design, it is of great interest to the general public, mainly for students of anthropology, archaeology, history, and other related professions.
