Description in English: This book analyzes one of the fascinating themes of historiography in recent years, imperial domination and confrontation in the Caribbean. From various angles and territorial scenarios, it examines the impact of the "winds of liberalism," which blew since the late 18th century and early 19th century, on numerous economic, social, political, and cultural transformation processes experienced in different Caribbean territories. It also discusses the processes and circumstances in which these "winds" were perceived and adapted to the specific realities of these territories. The ideas and efforts guiding many of the chapters are to divert attention from interpretations that look at institutionalized reformism as the main engine of American and Caribbean revolutions and transformations. It is about looking at the framework of social, economic, and political relations that intensified changes in the Caribbean underneath and in parallel to imperial struggles and bets for accentuating control over the territories. On various occasions, these networks of relationships promoted transformations prior to those of the empires, although the latter, in some cases, instrumentalized them based on their interests.
